Portage, Alaska

ATV Riding Near Portage, Alaska

We do not run a Portage pickup point. What we do have is a guided tour that meets 4 miles away, and machines delivered to six trailheads.

Our two pickup points are Girdwood and Anchorage, so there is no counter in Portage. If you are starting from Portage, the closest ride by a wide margin is the AKMUDITUP guided tour, which meets at Milepost 75 Seward Highway, 4 miles away at the "Welcome to Alaska's Kenai Peninsula" sign.

That tour crosses the wet sands and tidal flats of Turnagain Arm on a tide-timed schedule, guided the whole way, with rain gear and boots provided. Andy describes the terrain as smooth, high-visibility riding, unlike the dusty cobble most Alaska ATV tours run on.

The other option is a delivered trailhead package. We bring the ATV or UTV to one of six trailheads, fuel it, handle park fees, then come back for pickup and cleaning. Bird Creek is the nearest of those, and the Old Sterling Highway route is the family-friendly pick further down the Kenai.
